Parcel Delivery Terms
These Parcel Delivery Terms apply whenever you send or receive a Parcel through VanTele Mobility. They cover prohibited items, declared value, insurance, liability caps and the sender's responsibilities.
1. Scope
These terms apply to all Parcels sent through the Platform and supplement the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. The person sending a Parcel is the "Sender"; delivery is performed by an independent Driver.
2. How Parcel Delivery Works
- You register the Parcel with sender, recipient, size and content details and receive a tracking code in the format VTM followed by eight digits.
- A Driver collects the Parcel from the Sender and carries it to the destination, where it is handed to the recipient.
- Tracking events are recorded so the Sender and recipient can follow the Parcel's progress.
- Delivery timeframes are estimates, not guarantees.
3. Prohibited Items
You must not send any of the following through the Platform:
- Illegal goods of any kind, including illicit drugs and stolen property;
- Weapons, firearms, ammunition and explosives;
- Hazardous, flammable, toxic, radioactive or otherwise dangerous materials;
- Live animals;
- Cash, negotiable instruments and high-value valuables (such as jewellery or precious metals) unless expressly agreed in writing;
- Perishable goods, unless expressly agreed and suitably packaged;
- Human or animal remains, or biological/medical waste;
- Any item whose possession, sale or transport is restricted or unlawful under Namibian law.
4. Sender Responsibilities
- You confirm that you are legally entitled to send the Parcel and that its contents are lawful.
- You must describe the contents accurately and completely, and declare the value truthfully.
- You must package the Parcel adequately to protect the contents during transport.
- You are responsible for any loss, damage, fine or claim arising from misdescribed, mispackaged, prohibited or unlawful contents, and you indemnify VanTele and the Driver against such claims.
5. Right to Inspect or Refuse
VanTele and the Driver reserve the right to refuse, inspect, or stop carrying any Parcel that is reasonably suspected to contain prohibited items, to be misdescribed, or to pose a safety or legal risk. We may report suspected unlawful items to the authorities.
6. Declared Value and Insurance
- You must declare the value of the Parcel when you register it.
- Optional cover is available at a premium of 2% of the declared value, subject to the limits and exclusions stated at booking.
- Cover does not apply to prohibited items, undeclared or under-declared value, inadequate packaging, or consequential/indirect loss.
7. Liability for Lost or Damaged Parcels
- Where a Parcel is lost or damaged in circumstances for which VanTele is responsible, compensation is limited to the lower of the declared value or any applicable cover limit.
- Without declared value or cover, liability is capped at a nominal default amount stated at booking.
- VanTele is not liable for delay, indirect or consequential loss, or loss caused by the Sender's own acts, prohibited contents, inadequate packaging, or force majeure.
8. Collection, Delivery and Failed Delivery
The Sender must ensure the Parcel is ready for collection and that the recipient's details are correct. If delivery fails because the recipient is unavailable or the details are wrong, additional fees may apply, and the Parcel may be returned at the Sender's cost. Refunds for cancelled Parcel orders are governed by the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
9. Fees
Parcel fees are calculated by the Platform based on factors such as distance, size and handling, plus any optional cover. All fees are shown before you confirm.
10. Changes
We may update these Parcel Delivery Terms from time to time with notice through the Platform. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the changes.
